Nature, family and friends – that is the message sent by Vila, the festival that awaits us in Vrdnik (Fruške Terme Resort) from 3 to 5 June within the Heroines programme arch of the European Capital of Culture. In memory of the famous Milica Stojadinović Srpkinja, great heroine, poet, journalist and activist, the festival pays tribute to female creativity and all those fairies that make our world better and more beautiful.
It is little known that Milica was also a guitarist, and the music part of Vila relies on this talent of hers. The rich programme will bring together local, regional, European and world heroines and take us on an adventure through various genres and melodies. Whom will we listen to over the weekend on Fruška Gora?
Friday, 3 June
Simone Lamsma and Camerata Novi Sad / 7.30 p.m. One of the best violinists of today, the Dutch fairy of classical music Simone Lamsma, prepares the real treat for us:
‘I am preparing for you Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which I have chosen because of the special location where the concert will be held. This is music inspired by nature, which provokes many visions, colours and imagination, and which place is better for playing this music than Fruška Gora National Park?!’
Kaliopi / 9:30 p.m.
The biggest Macedonian pop-rock star and one of the most powerful music divas in the Balkans will sing us well-known hits, and she is especially looking forward to performing in Vrdnik:
‘I am very honoured and overjoyed to be a part of the ‘Vila’ festival because Novi Sad, apart from being the European Capital of Culture, has become the capital of my heart long ago.’
Jenny Berggren from Ace of Base band / 11:15 p.m.
The singer of the world-famous band Ace of Base, Jenny Bergren, is arriving from Sweden in Novi Sad and is preparing a great performance for us on the first day of the festival. We will enjoy the wonderful voice of the fairy of pop music in the beautiful greenery of Vrdnik

Amira Medunjanin and Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra / 7 p.m.
The magical sounds of sevdalinka and the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra will intertwine into beautiful melodies of famous and beloved songs performed by Amira Medunjanin, the fairy of traditional Bosnian music.
Tarja / 11 p.m.
The heroine of symphonic metal, the former vocalist of the world wide popular Finnish band Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, is preparing for us a musical experience that only a real metal diva with an opera voice can prepare. She sees her genre diversity as extremely important:
‘I was asked to choose between classical and metal music, just because people don’t understand that it’s possible to do both. I can’t choose, because I like working with both musical styles.’
Sunday, 5 June
E-PLAY / 6 p.m.
An alternative rock band with twenty years of experience will really prepare a ‘wonderful day’ for us. We will listen to E-play on Sunday, the last day of ‘Vila’, and we are looking forward to it.
‘ I have to say that I don’t know if I prefer the programme or the location of the festival,’ said Maja Cvetković, a member of the band.
Natali Dizdar / 7.30 p.m.
The fairy of the Croatian pop scene, Natali Dizdar, will enchant us with wonderful melodies and, in the tone of the festival and the entire programme of the Heroines programme arch of the European Capital of Culture, which celebrates women and women’s creativity, invites us to dance with the message ‘Ladies choose this dance’.
Violist Tabea Zimmermann / 8 p.m.
Along with all these recognized names, the best violist in the world is coming to Vrdnik from Germany. Tabea Zimmermann is the winner of the prestigious ‘Ernst von Siemens’ award for 2020 and is preparing a concert to remember in the Vrdnik Tower.
